Our Curriculum
Curriculum Intent:
Our intent: a creative and progressive curriculum, sequenced to enable our children to build and advance their knowledge base, develop strong skills and an understanding of themselves. Provide exceptional curriculum opportunities and experiences, foster an enthusiasm and love for learning that ensures our children fulfil their potential.
Based on this philosophy of Fun, Creativity & Achievement, we have designed a progressive curriculum for the school. All subjects are sequenced to enable our children to build and advance their knowledge base, develop strong skills and, through exceptional curriculum opportunities and experiences, foster an enthusiasm and love for learning that ensures our children fulfil their potential.
We recognise each child as a unique child with individual needs, therefore our curriculum is adapted to meet the needs of all learners, so that every child reaches their full potential. We are committed to providing the very best teaching and learning experiences, which inspire and challenge pupils to demonstrate exceptional outcomes.
Whilst supporting high academic achievement, we have also designed a curriculum that supports pupils in understanding themselves as individuals, celebrating their goals and aspirations and actively promoting mental wellness.
We believe in a creative curriculum, and we learn our wider subjects through themed topics. This enables our children to immerse themselves within a subject, gaining important knowledge and skills. Each curriculum topic has opportunities for children to learn through immersive experiences, such as themed days, external visitors and educational visits.
Through giving our children different learning experiences, celebrating individual achievements and fostering a positive attitude in a wide range of areas our pupils will have the chance to grow their confidence and develop their aspirations for the future.
Implementation:
The school recognises the need to balance teacher workload with high quality learning experiences for pupils. To support this and where appropriate to the needs of our pupils the school uses some purchased published schemes to support the teaching of curriculum areas. These include:

By using these published resources the school ensures that the full National Curriculum is covered and that progression is clear in all subjects. Progression in skills maps are produced for each subject area and work as a guide for where pupils are expected to be an the end of Year.
Teachers are expected to adapt these plans to meet the needs of their individual pupils, whilst maintaining the integrity of each unit of work.
The school uses our own assessment system and core objectives have been identified for each year group to measure progress and attainment.
